Hello!  My name is Chris. I am the producer and host of the podcast, Crime Happens.  I started this podcast in the summer of 2020.  I have been into true crime since forever, and I actually worked in IT for what seemed like forever!  Once I retired, the podcast felt like the perfect way for me to combine my long standing interest in true crime with my technical skills. 

Brooke, a very good friend of mine, introduced me to the world of true crime podcasts back in 2016, and I’ve been hooked ever since.  I loved listening to these podcasts so much that I really wanted to do one of my own. So that’s exactly what I did.  I love telling stories about true crime, to my family and friends, whether they want to hear them or not, especially when the story starts out with, “Did you know…?”.  

In fact, my first episode was inspired by my older sister Patti, who was the jury foreman on a horrific case (True Northwest Pimp), and my younger sister Cathy has been providing me with pictures, ideas and detailed feedback.  

People often ask me, “Where do you get your ideas?”. When I was younger, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer were in the news.  I followed the coverage, and monitored the body counts. My sisters classmate in high school was a victim of Ted Bundy. I watched these cases being covered and many others like them in real time. Before these types of crimes were ever seen in movies, on TV or in podcasts, books were the primary medium. I have hundreds, which I have read over the years. And now…I get to share them with you on my podcast!

This podcast is a completely independent, one person operation.  I built my own website, setup the publishing for podcast hosts like Apple and Spotify, do my own research, script writing, recording and editing.  I finally acquired some new editing software which makes a big difference in sound quality.  

I’m still figuring out the editing process and my delivery style, what works, what doesn’t but hopefully I am getting better.

 Beyond The Crime is a segment which covers my other areas of interests.  Forensic Science, and a variety of topics related to crime and the solving of crimes.  I’m still working on the first episode.  No ETA yet.
